Top 5 professions in demand “formación profesional”

If you believe statistics, today the graduation employment rate  of vocational training programs in Spain is 10% higher than the employment rate of university graduates.

The formación profesional (FP) grado superior also has other advantages over a Bachelor’s degree: It’s only two years long and it is primarily focused on practical training.

What FP programs should you look at if you want to go to school for a short time and want a high chance of finding a job in Spain?

Here are the five higher vocational education programs with the highest hiring rates at the moment:

  • Administrative management(nearly 160,100 new employment contracts were signed in 2020);
  • Management and finances(109,149 new jobs over the year);
  • Nursing care (105,474 more employees than in 2019);
  • Preschool education (+ 54 351 work places);
  • Electrical and automatic installations (+ 41 442 work places)

While these numbers may not seem very impressive, you have to consider that in 2020 the world was at the height of the pandemic and experienced nearly three months of lockdown.

Furthermore, last January the Spanish government announced the creation of 49 new FP specialties in fields with lots of job opportunities: digital, sports, construction, energy, tourism and hotel and restaurant management.

We also want to remind you that upon graduation from the formación profesional grado superior , you can enter a university under much easier conditions- with little or no exams.

Dreaming of studying in Spain, but not sure which level of education is best suited to your goals? Can’t decide which field of study to pursue?
